Principal's News/Updates

What's Happening....April & May!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break with family & friends! We have many things going on in April and May as we end the school year!

Music & Choir
Mr. B and the 3rd grade students put on a great show this week about the Ocean! They sang many fun songs and conducted some research on ocean animals! The Choir concert will be held April 26th. Choir participants will recieve flyers to take home about a week before the performance.

Butler elementary and all schools in the state of Colorado will begin state assessments the week of April 9th! This data is important to our school performance frameworks that are provided by the state. Students will take performance assessments in Lanaguage Arts, Math, Social Studies (4th grade only), and Science (5th grade only).

Your students have worked hard all year and have learned many new things...they are ready to take the Colorado state assessments, and we are very proud of all their work! Please help us during testing to ensure the following:
1. Students get enough sleep each night (9-10 hrs)
2. Students eat a healthy filling breakfast in the morning 

* Important Dates to Remember *

REMINDER-NO late start Mondays for the remainder of the year!

Monday May 7th-NO School for students! READ Conference

Dates for Field Day, End of Year Awards, & Talent Show will be sent home later this month!

*Attendance News*

Butler continues to celebrate student attendance! Our goal for the year is 97% attendance and those students who have 3 or fewer absences will be going to the ROCKIES game on April 11th! We are excited to be taking 105 students to the game this year! Congrats to the students who will be in attendance...great job!

We understand this year we had many illnesses which prevented some students from having perfect attendance. Our goal is to attend the Rockies Game every year; therefore your students have another opportunity to earn this reward next year!

Please be sure to make every effort to get kids to school every day and on time, as instruction starts promptly in the morning! If students are sick, please be sure to contact the office.

*BOND Update *
Butler has just begun conversations and planning for the construction and updates that will take place this summer. We are very excited to receive new furniture for students, some new technology, and some updates to our classrooms and bathrooms. We are very grateful to the community for providing this for our students.

We will keep the teachers and community posted on the updates and construction and we are looking forward to walking into the building in August!
