Dear Weld Re-8 community
We are in the last quarter of the school year and we know that it will be a busy time in the school district.
Our first priority is always student learning and to that end, we are moving into the state assessment season and we want to wish every student the best. We know that our teachers have worked so hard teaching our students the necessary skills and exposing them to the knowledge they need to be at grade level. Weld Re-8 participation in state assessment is a way for our students to show how smart they really are. Parents/guardians can assist us by ensuring students are well rested and encouraging them to their best.
The fourth quarter allows us to end this school year strong and at the same time to start preparing for the 2025-2026 school year. Part of that preparation includes making staffing decisions. As you know, we are in the midst of the superintendent search. The district received more than 20 applications which the Board of Education will narrow down to a few they would like to invite for an interview. Please let Mrs. Deb Smith know if you are interested to serve on an interview committee.
The district also has some districtwide positions that have been posted. None of the positions are newly created positions with the exception of the district wide athletic director’s position. This position is a merger between the current middle and high school Athletic director position into a combined AD position because we believe it will benefit the district’s operation and bring alignment in athletic philosophy and procedures. These districtwide positions will be budget neutral not adding to the district expenses because they are existing positions.
The district looked at student enrollment numbers and used a formula based decision matrix to re-adjust the number of administrators needed in each building.
Unfortunately, we currently have more people than available positions so in order to have a fair process we gave administrators the opportunity to apply for the positions they may be interested in. This process was open to all qualified staff members.
The district will follow the recruiting policies the Board of education put in place to screen, select and interview potential candidates.
Weld Re-8 is in a season of change and we know that every interview committee will do their best to move the best candidates forward.
The future looks bright and we look forward to new leadership in the buildings and in the district.
Thank you for being our partners in preparing your students for their future.
See you at graduation Saturday May, 24 at 9 am at the Bob Phelps football field!
Respectfully,
Alan Kaylor, Superintendent
